La última actualización de uno de mis gráficos favoritos del Banco de España ya está disponible. Lo reproduzco aquí: en los últimos doce meses el Estado ha contraído más de 110.000 millones de pasivos netos, el equivalente de más de un 10% del PIB.
Por cierto, esta semana The Economist se ceba con España en tres artículos. Lo cubren todo: la crisis en el mercado laboral, el desastre de la financiación autonómica (“Everyone’s a winner in Alice in Zapateroland”), las peleas del Gobierno con los empresarios, la falta de competitividad de una “expensive, poorly educated labour force”. Lo peor es el editorial: “The prime minister’s aversión to tough decisions risks prolonging the slump … it is the formula for the Italianisation of Spain”.
A pesar de lo duro de la crítica, siempre me parece que The Economist sencillamente no entiende a Zapatero. Se creen que las decisiones equivocadas que toma son el fruto de su voluntad negociadora y sus ganas de complacer a todos. Creo que está claro que la realidad es otra: Zapatero cree que toma las decisiones correctas y no piensa que las reformas duras que tiene en mente The Economist sean necesarias.

Yes, but don't underestimate the degree to which certain equally tenured socio-economic sectors, all subscribers to the Partido Pancartas, would also see this as a desirable outcome.
ReplyDeleteTo the degree, great in my opinion, that the entrenched debating positions have far outlived their utility, the fact that the young don't give a toss could be interpreted as potentially good news.
