  1. B,

I've never had the feeling that Krugman really grasped the material that is this crisis, but lately he's compounded that with his evident boredom with his role as an NYT blogger. I suspect he wanted to parlay his Nobel plus his press gig into a run at treasury secretary. That having failed, he's just marking time and cashing his paycheque by writing two paragraph analyses of nothing of particular interest.

In this case, he doesn't seem to get it that the 6.5% that Greece pays is not 'heading off a cliff' but is a reflection of the politics of the euro. No common currency and they're paying 12 or 15. A fully functional one, they pay under 4.

Can't get the tickers to show up. What's the trick?

    Cheers

  2. Charles,

Apologies for taking a couple of days to respond. Are you telling me you can´t get the bloomberg charts to show? I click on either of my two links (irish or spanish debt) and get the chart showing the 10-year yield and the option to compare it to other countries´ debt.

Totally agree with you on Krugman and Greece. By the way, I had avoided the Variant Perceptions stuff until a couple of days ago when I decided to listen to the interview in TV3. Fascinating.

Looking forward to the resumption of your usual blogging service.

  3. I'm a touch overloaded with work recuperating from the backlog created by the winter rain. Will get back to it one day.

    Thanks
